Spiritual Circuit in Kerala

Background Context

Very recently prime minister of India, inaugurated the project mentioning the development of the Spiritual Circuit accommodating three important pilgrimage centres Aranmula, Sabarimala Temple in Kerala and Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple. This project was initiated under the ambitious Govt. scheme of Swadesh Darshan (Tourism Ministry). Moreover the very well known Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is considered as Lord Vishnu’s 108 divyadesams.

Brief about Swadesh Darshan Scheme:

MInistry of Tourism had initiated the Swadesh Darshan Scheme with the aim, to deploy and practice theme based tourist circuit in throughout India. The Govt. decided to develop these tourist circuits on the groundwork of high tourist value, its competitiveness and sustainability in the integrated way.

Active Features of Swadesh Darshan Scheme

  • 100% funded by the Central Govt.
  • Volunteer funding enabled and available for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) capability of Public Sector Undertaking of Central and Corporate Sector.
  • Funding towards individual projects may vary from state to state and will be actualised on the criteria of project reports prepared and submitted by the PMC (Program Management Consultant).
  • National Steering Committee (NSC)” will be established with the Minister in-charge of Ministry of Tourism as chairman to overlook and steer the mission objective and work towards vision of the desired scheme.
  • Mission Directorate” led by the Member Secretary, NSC as appointed nodal officer will enable identify projects in consultation with the States and Union Territories governments and other stakeholders.
  • Project Management Consultant” will be national level consultant, they get appointed by the Mission Directorate.
